Best products of 2003

Here are my picks for the best products of 2003.

  • Power Mac G5. Apple's fastest computer ever and the first 64-bit desktop system.
  • Apple's new line of PowerBooks. These are among the best laptops Apple (or anyone else) has made. They introduced new technologies such as Airport Extreme & Bluetooth and are more rugged than the old TiBooks.
  • iTunes Music Store. Apple shook up the music industry with the first wildly successful legal music download service.
  • iLife. iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, and iDVD gained many new features and are now fully integrated.
  • iChat AV & the iSight. Video conferencing made easy with the most convenient webcam ever.
  • Panther. The fastest Mac OS X yet, with new features like Expose to make your work easier.
  • Safari. Apple's own web browser. It may not be the fastest, but most users will find it easy & pleasant to use. It's a big improvement over IE.
  • Disclabel. The best CD labeling software. Disclabel is nicely integrated with iTunes and the other iLife applications and shares the same user interface design.
  • URL Manager Pro. The best bookmark management utility, finally available for Mac OS X.
  • ShapeShifter. The safest way to apply themes in Mac OS X. Unlike other appearance changing utilities, it doesn't modify the system.
  • SubEthaEdit. One of the most interesting products to take advantage of Rendezvous technology, it lets many people share and collaborate on documents.
