Bash replaces tcsh as default shell in Panther
In a move that will please many Unix geeks, Apple has made bash the default shell in Panther rather than tcsh used in previous Mac OS X versions. If you do an update install and preserve your old user accounts you won't see the change, however.
Bash is a flexible shell which uses a more standard syntax than csh or tcsh. For more information about Bash see http://www.gnu.org/software/bash/bash.html.

New Panther Seed - 7B44
Panther 7B44 has been seeded to developers. Note that the FileVault feature in this build, which encrypts a user's home directory, is incompatible with the format used in previous builds. If you've enabled FileVault in 7B39, you must turn it off before upgrading to 7B44.
