Security Update 2003-06-09
Apple's Security Update 2003-06-09 is now available from the Software Update panel.
Security Update 2003-06-09 addresses a potential security issue when the Apple Filing Protocol (AFP) is used to reshare a Network File System (NFS) mount. This update also addresses a situation where LDAP bind authentication requests may be improperly sent when using Kerberos authentication.
This update contains fixes for the following issues:
- AFP: CAN-2003-0379. When Apple File Service (AFP Server) in Mac OS
X Server is serving files on a UFS or re-shared NFS volume, there is a
potential vulnerability that can allow a remote user to overwrite
arbitrary files.
- Directory Services: CAN-2003-0378. When logging in via Kerberos on
an LDAPv3 server, the account password may be sent in cleartext format
when Login Window falls back to trying a simple bind on the server.

Beta testers needed for new iPod game
Mind's Eye Entertainment and Inksword are looking for a handfull of Beta Testers for a new interactive fiction game that is in development for use with Apple's new iPod. The game is a series of notes that are hyperlinked together, giving you the feel of the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books from the 1980's. Beta testers must have a new iPod (10, 15, or 30GB models using iPod Software 2.0). For more information visit http://www.inksword.net/
