G4 DDR RAM PC2700 is recognised as DDR PC2600 in Apple Hardware Test 1.2.6

In using the only Hardware Test Available to me Apple Hardware Test 1.2.6, I have been surprised by the lack of reality in the Description of the DDR PC2700 Apple approved RAM from my supplier here in Surfers Paradise Australia.

After running the test numerous times I have received the Description on the RAM mofules by the Test as DDR PC 2600 RAM.

This surprised me after being sure that the only RAM for this machine that should be used is DDR PC2700.

After contacting support here in Australia, and not receiving a satisfactory answer, I am bemused by the fact that the stickers on the RAM clearly state DDR-PC2700.

Why I ask is a new G4 Dual Processor 2x1G, 3 months old, not able to tell me specifically the correct nature of the the RAM installed in my machine.

I ask why is there no Alternative Test available for OS 10.2.3 to verify these details?

I have had the RAM replaced twice to see if there is any improvement and receive the same message. DDR-PC2600.

I find this not only very annoying but a downright nuisance considering the claims made by Apple about their wonderful new operating system which is incapble of being verified.

Does anyboby have a serious explanation for this phenomena?

I hope someone does, because Apple don't.
