Apple released two new iPod Photo models and two new iPod minis. Apple has also dropped the 40G standard iPod.
The iPod mini is now available in a 4GB model for $199 and a new 6GB model priced at $249. Both models feature improved battery life of up to 18 hours and charging via USB. The iPod mini is now available in 4 colors: pink, blue, green, or silver. Gold is no longer available.
The iPod Photo is now available in a new slim 30GB model for $349 and a 60GB model for $449. Like the iPod mini, the new iPod Photo features improved battery life (up to 15 hours) and charging via USB. Most notably, the iPod Photo can now import photos directly from a digital camera, using the new iPod Camera Connector.
Apple has also released a firmware update for all iPod models. This is the first major upgrade for 3G iPods which adds a few 4G features such as a shuffle item in the main menu.
