Love, The App wins the BolognaRagazzi Digital Award 2014

Buenos Aires, Argentina – Fifty years after the publication of LOVE, by Italian artist Gian Berto Vanni, the classic illustrated masterpiece has returned as a delightful and interactive app that explores issues of tolerance, understanding and the human ability to love in spite of our differences. The new digital edition – developed by Argentine storytelling studio Nino – offers a fresh and innovative take on the original tale while maintaining its characteristic simplicity.

Now, “Love, The App” has been selected winner of the BolognaRagazzi Digital Award 2014, in the Fiction category, by the prestigious Bologna Children’s Book Fair.

“It was easy to love this app – tremendous digital imagination and inventiveness applied to a book which celebrates the textures and trickery of paper, and the power of vulnerable simplicity and visual poetry,” said the international jury chaired by Warren Buckleitner. “Love, The App” competed against 257 other entries received from 37 countries.

From beginning to end, “Love, The App” creates a magical animated environment, set to an original soundtrack that submerges the reader into the true essence of love and compassion.

“This is a story about love, understanding and tolerance, how not to withdraw from what is different,” says Vanni, now 86 years old. “Because the different is us; we’re all different and we’re all the same. This is love.”

LOVE’s universal message has overwhelmed readers for half a century. Italian artist Gian Berto Vanni first published the book in France in 1964. Its original 5,000 copies sold out almost immediately. LOVE was a book with a unique concept and the author was considered one of the first illustrators to experiment with animated storytelling.

And now with “Love, The App,” children of all ages can enjoy the true value of LOVE, anytime, anywhere. The app has been featured in the top 5 of Books and Kids categories in the iTunes Store and is available for iPad.

“We believe in the power of stories and their ability to connect us with our primary emotions. A story can positively transform a person. That is why we created Nino, and that is why we develop powerful stories that engage and move people, like the one of ‘Love, The App’,” explains Pablo Curti, Creative Director of Nino. Mr. Curti will exhibit “Love, The App” at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair from March 23 to March 27 on Pad. 29 Stand C/15. Share the message of love and understanding with “Love, The App.”
