London, United Kingdom – Independent publisher Nosy Crow is pleased to announce that its Pip and Posy: Fun and Games app for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch is now available on the App Store. Pip and Posy: Fun and Games, by Axel Scheffler, award-wining illustrator of The Gruffalo, is the companion app to the popular picture book series about the real-life dramas of toddler life, recommended for children aged 2 and up.

“We’re all about creating apps that are right for the child”, says Kate Wilson, Managing Director of Nosy Crow. While our previous award-winning apps have all been story apps, this is a collection of age-appropriate games and activities that draws on the characters that Axel Scheffler has created for our series of books. We wanted to be true to the themes of the books so, for example, the books explore the different, sometimes negative, emotions that pre-schoolers experience, and we ‘translated’ that into a game where you can copy the faces that Pip and Posy are making – happy, sad, surprised – and capture your expression that picture.”
“It’s been interesting to see the Nosy Crow app magic applied to the pencil- and pen-and-ink illustrations I have created for the Pip and Posy books to bring the characters alive and to create something so interactive,” says Axel Scheffler, illustrator of Pip and Posy. “This app doesn’t compete with the books, and, unlike other Nosy Crow apps, it’s not a story book app. Instead, it’s a collection of interactive activities that will be fun for the fans of the series and, we hope, will introduce others to the books and the characters. I particularly liked the “make a face” game.”
Pip and Posy: Fun and Games follows Nosy Crow’s highly acclaimed, multi-award winning series of 3D Fairytale apps, The Three Little Pigs and Cinderella, and the Bizzy Bear storybook app series, based on the novelty board book character. A second Bizzy Bear app, Bizzy Bear at the Building Site, will be released this year, as well as a third 3D Fairytale, Little Red Riding Hood. In May 2012 Nosy Crow will release a brand new Axel Scheffler book app, Animal SnApp, featuring all-new characters and rhyming stories.
